sybilline cavalier ... men, hold these lines!

another sketch of a sybilline ... lean but armed with rather exotic weapons they make for deadly foes -yes even as fighters ...

backstory: ......
place: the red toad tavern ... in the mid sized merchant town of brustan ....
an old barbarian (a veteran of countless campaigns in the queen's service) sits at a well worn table drinking ale ...telling tales (most of them quite tall...). a young soldier sits and listens and sips his ale...'hey barbarian , who was the toughest warrior you ever fought with?'...
the barbarian thought for awhile...and said 'let me set this scene ...

there were 20 of us at the ruined basecamp of rull brenner...surrounded by a force of a 100 orcs. they were waiting till dark to charge the fort but we had news reinforcements were on the way. about 3 pm that afternoon a sole rider approached...we hung our heads and cursed the gods-there were to be no reinforcements. she jumped off the horse and approached our master sergeant and said ' what's the situation?'...he said 'where are the reinforcements...'...she looked at him and said 'me...im the reinforcements. now, whats the situation sergeant?'..

after being briefed on the orc positions and our own she asked 'why aren't we firing at those orcs?(there were orcs about 400 yards away..well outside of crossbow range).' our sergeant said 'they are too far out of range...just waiting to string us up tonite'. she paused again and went back to her steed and pulled out a very long but slender crossbow ...loaded it and stood on the barricades and fired ! it sailed long and high and true...and we could see one of the orcs in that clearing topple... she turned and said ...' load up every crossbow you have!...and you men drink a mug of ale...then lift your chins and get ready for battle!'. with her help we won that day...she was seemingly all over the battlefield..lightning quick and she used her cloak almost as a weapon(obscuring her when needed...blinding the orcs when needed)....

the old barbarian turned his tankard up and nodded to the bar wench for another...he then turned to the young soldier and said ..'she was the best soldier i have ever seen'
